Gothic Folding Knife or Razor

A folding knife of German provenance, based on an item auctioned by Hermann-Historica auction house in April 2008. (Hermann-Historica Auction #54, Lot No.4605, "Gotisches Klappmesser")

the extremely fine point suggests that it may well have been a barber's razor, suited to both shaving and blood-letting, and this reproduction has been given an acute flat grind with no secondary bevel accordingly.

This example has been given small detail decoration, in the form of the blackening of the all-steel handle, and a forge-blackened fuller line inscribed just below the spine of the blade.

The blade is forge-worked from O1 steel, the handle plate is modern mild steel.

Overall length, 219mm open, 155mm closed.
